Getting Started: These are the common answers to the age old questions of “How can I look and feel better?”
Getting into shape is easy… BUT it does take commitment, concentration and a desire to succeed. Sometimes one of the difficult aspects of any exercise program is simply getting started.
Once you begin a properly designed workout program you will be guaranteed results. Through resistance training muscles will become stronger, with greater mass and better definition. Through cardiovascular training the heart itself will become stronger, pumping more blood through the body with less beats per minute… fueling itself and the other muscles using the body’s fat reserves.
With the extraordinarily wide range of fitness equipment available in today’s health clubs and in home equipment the one common denominator to them all is you.
Benefits of Exercise: The benefits of a good exercise program include reduced stress, increased energy and endurance, a faster metabolism, most importantly; you will look and feel better.
Working Out:
When working out with weights there are some guidelines you should follow to achieve maximum results and help prevent injury.
Warm Up & Stretch: You should always begin any training program with a warm up session followed by stretching. This preconditioning will help reduce the risk of muscle injury and improving your flexibility in performing the exercise. Stretching and using the treadmill, bike, or running in place for 3 to 5 minutes before to your work out properly warms up your muscles and helps achieve better results.
Breathing: Remember, your body is a machine and oxygen is one of the fuels your muscles need to work and grow. Breathe in a rhythmic beat. Inhale through your nose as you lift the weight and exhale through your mouth as you push or pull it away. DO NOT hold your breath.
Form: Proper form is far more important in an exercise routine than how much you lift. Your movements should be smooth and precise. Do not hyperextend or move out of range of the exercise. If you begin to shake or tremble you are probably using too heavy a weight or have exhausted the muscles and it is time to stop or lighten the weight.
Cardiovascular: Including cardiovascular routines in your training program helps to increase your endurance, energy level, blood and oxygen supply to growing muscles, while reducing body fat, and the risk of a heart attack.
